What are the certification assessment mechanics?

The assessment is based on a computer-based examination. It will measure your knowledge and UX design expertise following completion of all lessons and submission of your course project work. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes.

The assessment platform includes a number of security features that will require you to verify your identity. This helps ensure the credibility and value of the certification that you’ll receive.

What are the admissions criteria?

Students are admitted on a case-by-case basis after a consultation with one of our Education Advisors.
Key factors we’ll discuss with you include:

Background
You don’t need experience in design or technology to enroll in our courses, although having one or both is a definite bonus. Our students come from a diverse mix of backgrounds, including project management, development, graphic design, product management, business analysis, and so on.

Commitment
You do need to be motivated and committed. We set a high bar. Studying for one of our professional qualifications requires a certain amount of time, energy, and focus. Our team will be there to support you along every step of the way, but success will come as a result of your own diligence.

Will I get assigned a mentor?

Yes. Each course has a dedicated mentor. All our mentors are top-class UX professionals with many years of experience working in the field both in the Philippines and abroad. Your mentor will host your monthly webinars and will be available during those sessions to answer questions, review projects, and keep you motivated.

How will I communicate with my classmates and mentors?

A slack channel will be created for each batch of students in order for you to communicate with your classmates, mentors, as well as the administrative staff. You will also be invited to join the global slack channel where you can meet fellow UX Designers from all over the world. Currently, there are about 2,000 members.

Will I be able to build a portfolio?

Yes. Practical work is a huge part of the course. For the Professional Diploma in UX Design, there are a total of 16 projects to give you hands-on experience on all the key aspects of UX. Each project is part of a single case study – researching, designing and prototyping a website or a mobile app. The output will be a portfolio of work that will showcase your skills and experience in UX.

Will I work with a team?

Yes, if you want to. Each course is limited to a maximum of 75 people. This allows you to build relationships with your fellow students on a dedicated Slack channel and collaborate on projects and study time.

How long is the course?

The program will follow a structured 6-month time period with deadlines.

Who curates and updates the learning content?

The Industry Advisory Council, including some of the world’s largest and most influential technology brands, validates and oversees all the course content.
Members of the council are composed of three main types of organisations; global technology leaders that employ UX graduates and professionals; startups and agencies making practical use of the latest design techniques; as well as recruitment agencies involved in sourcing and placing UX professionals.

By providing expert review and recommendations on a regular basis, the Council ensures that graduates of the Diploma are acquiring knowledge and skills that are up-to-date, relevant, and that coincide with what technology employers are looking for in new hires.

The Industry Advisory Council plays an important role in steering our programs in terms of what is relevant, what is current, and what is necessary. The objectives of the Council can be summarised as follows:

  • Validate program
  • Define standards
  • Maintain relevance
  • Maintain currency
  • Oversee quality
  • Inform programs
  • Serve the industry
